The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda is underpinned by a set of United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions originating with UNSCR 13251 adopted in 2000. It laid the foundations for today’s WPS international policy framework through addressing the impacts of war on women and the importance of their full and equal participation in conflict resolution, peacebuilding, peacekeeping, humanitarian response and post conflict reconstruction.
